THE DYNAMIC SKIDDED TURN WITH SOFT BOOTS

A dynamic turn occurs when the center of mass or weight of the body travels in a separate direction from that of the snowboard. Photo 1 shows the rider in the middle of a heel side turn. Photo 2 shows the rider beginning the completion phase of the heel side turn. Photo 3 shows the completion phase of the turn.



Photo 4 shows the rider initiating the toe side turn with the center of body mass moving to the toe side. Photo 5 shows the control phase of the turn with the toe edge engaged. Photo 6 shows the beginning of the completion phase of the turn.





Photos 7 and 8 show the rider back on the dynamic heel side turn with knees and ankles flexed and the body in a neutral, relaxed stance. The above turns are medium radius. Shorter radius dynamic skidded turns are shown below.
