THE MANUAL

The heel manual (wheelie) is performed from the glide position starting in Photo 1. Lean back so the center of mass is slightly behind the rear foot. Pull back on the front foot to bend the board and lift the tip as shown in Photo 2. Hold this position with a flat board and ride the tail as shown in Photos 3 and 4. Drop the tip by shifting the center of mass forward to the normal riding position. The rider in this photo sequence is riding goofy. If the rider had his weight on his front foot with the tail of the board lifted, it would be called a nose manual. This maneuver can also be done in the switch (fakie) position.
