FINISHING A RUN ON ONE SKI


Finishing a slalom run is shown below. From the skiing position (Photo 1) let go of the handle (Photo 2). Adjust balance as the tow rope is no longer a factor. As speed decreases the skier sinks into the water (Photo 3).

As the skier sinks into the water drag increases which tends to pitch the body forward (Photo 4). Resist this by leaning back slightly. Settle straight down into the water (Photos 5 and 6). A common mistake in this maneuver is to fall forward at the sequence of finishing shown in Photo 4.
