THE SLALOM TURN

Start the preturn by moving the body center of mass over the ski in the direction of the new turn (Photo 1). Move center of mass forward slightly to help make the ski carve and decelerate. Continue to lean in the direction of the turn (Photo 2). Round the buoy with maximum inclination or lean, making the sharpest turn to avoid a slack line and to set up for the next buoy (Photo 3).

Continue the turn toward the wake (Photo 4) and start pulling very hard with the back straight, hips up and the handle close to the body to avoid bending over and losing the edge (Photo 5).

In Photo 6 the skier is already edging the ski into the turn
